Our lobby features over 500 unique zines, a project started by the generous donation of zines by Tucson Zine Fest and continued with their support and the support of our local community of zinesters
Zines are an important part of the DIY culture that we are working to foster here at Groundworks. If you don't already know, "zine" is short for magazine. Producing and distributing zines is an awesome way for anyone to share their poetry, political analysis, history, and art independently -- no agent or editor or anyone has to like what you have to say, you just need an idea and a printer.
We house not one but two (2!) zine libraries in our lobby at Groundworks.
If you'd like to check out this part of our space come through during open hours or come to a show!
Tucson Zine Fest's Zine Library is housed on three wooden shelves and these zines can be read in the space or checked out by emailing TucsonZineFest@gmail.com and should be returned here eventually!
Groundworks' DIY or Die Zine Library consists of zines that have been donated to Groundworks and are available for reading here or for checking out via the sign out sheet on the wall.
HOW TO SUBMIT ZINES AND ADD TO THE LIBRARY
If you would like to volunteer to help expand our zine program sign up here
and come to our zine/library meetings every fourth monday of the month from 6 -8 pm.
